Costa Rica

Costa Rica is like a zoo where you can stay for a holiday. There are beaches to enjoy (watch out for cheeky monkeys 🙊), beautiful National Parks and countless species of wildlife.

You can get spoiled real quickly. I remember hoping to spot a Toucan on my trip, but before I knew it, I had a list tracking the different species.

Although it’s quite challenging to capturing sharp images of moving animals in low light conditions, it’s very rewarding and a lot of fun! So bring out the long lens and enjoy everything Costa Rica has to offer.

Mantled howler monkey in Tortuguero National Park.

Leaf cutter ants.

I’m particularly happy with the colors and warm tone of the photo.

Molting green cricket.

Not the sharpest image, but lucky to have spotted it during a night tour.

Catarata Del Toro

Costa Rica’s highest waterfall.

Resplendent quetzal

As mentioned before, spotting all kinds of animal species can get pretty addicting. I was a bit disapointed to miss out on the quetzals when visiting Monteverde, so it was decided to trade a beach day for a detour through San Gerardo de Dota.

Tour guide Michael Granados did an amazing job and spotted six quetzals in total! What a way to end this trip!
